Open thread ... a challenge
People read this drivel every once in a while, I think. Or maybe it’s just that I hope someone stumbles in here for some reason or another. I get somewhere in the vicinity of 20 hits a day, according to my SiteMeter. Then again, the great majority of those hits are here for 0:00, so I’m not sure what they represent.
The place I’m heading is that whatever the number of actual readers, they don’t seem to leave behind very much evidence of their perusal. By which I mean comments. Nothing I’ve written here has been commented on since May 12 (a full four weeks ago), in reference to an April 26 entry. Granted, I haven’t put up all that many postings in the interim—seven, to be precise—but that’s fairly prolix by my usual standard.
So here it is—is there anyone out there actually reading this stuff? If so, would you be so kind as to write a comment? No need for profundity ... believe me, what little self-esteem I possess would be just as buoyed by a one-word message, by an insult, by a rude word, as by a 1000-word essay on the Platonic ideal or international relations or the designated hitter.
Comments
I think I’m one of those 0:00 types most of the time, since I click, find nothing new, and go away muttering.
Seven in four weeks means I’ve been remiss in checking, or I had nothin’ to say that you hadn’t already said better. ;)
I check in alot.
Wish you’d post more, though not quite so much as to attract nutballs like HorsesAss gets.
I second the above comment; if there’s nothing new I move on.
I have had the same questions, but I come back to the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “What you do is of little significance, but it is very important that you do it.”
I check in and read when there’s new content.
...well, we traded some characters over on TalkLeft. I guess the internet is smaller than we think.
So OK, hello. And boy is that right what J said about the idiot commenters at HorsesAss. They muck up the place so badly I don’t even look at comments most the time. Be glad for not having THAT traffic, N! feh!
Reporting for duty.
You are writing again! Glad to see it.
